Enrollment projections show that 14 schools in Frederick County will be at or over capacity in August, so enrollment for those schools in the 2013-14 school year will be limited to students who reside within each school’s respective attendance area.Should their enrollments drop below maximum capacity in the fall, the school system will reopen these 12 elementary schools and two middle schools to out-of-district requests. The elementary schools on the list are Brunswick, Centerville, Deer Crossing, Hillcrest, Monocacy, New Market, North Frederick, Tuscarora, Urbana, Waverley, Whittier and Yellow Springs. The middle schools are Oakdale and Urbana.Students who already attend a school outside their home attendance area may continue at that school without reapplying for an out-of-district transfer. Parents and guardians must renew out-of-district transfers for students when they move from PreK to elementary, elementary to middle school or from middle to high school.

Parents or guardians may apply for an out-of-district transfer by completing the form, which is available at all Frederick County Public Schools, online at www.fcps.org/forms or at the school system’s Student Services office, 191 S. East St., Frederick. The Student Services Office will accept requests beginning Feb. 1.
